Michelle Chen, Cathy Clarkin and Rodge Cohen have authored an article for Law360 about the Biden administration’s approach to climate-related threats to the economy and financial stability. The White House and the Financial Stability Oversight Council have each issued a report outlining its strategy and recommendations for addressing climate-related financial risk in recent weeks. The authors write that the reports “signal forthcoming climate-related regulatory and other governmental initiatives, which are likely to be substantial.”
The authors write that as regulators increase their focus on climate-related risks, “[C]ompanies, particularly SEC-reporting companies and financial institutions, should consider evaluating their existing approach to climate risks and opportunities and prepare to adapt to major climate-related regulatory and market developments in the coming years.”
