Garrard Beeney, co-head of S&C’s Intellectual Property Group, and Renata Hesse, co-head of S&C’s Antitrust Group, have co-authored the United States chapter in the fifth edition of
The Intellectual Property and Antitrust Review. This volume provides an annual overview of important legal issues at the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law. The chapter surveys antitrust and IP developments during 2019 and offers insight into what these developments may mean going forward. “Globally, the trend in recent years toward harmonisation of competition laws as they are applied to IP has continued,” the authors write, noting that there has been a “new focus on the meaning and consequences of the patent owner’s FRAND commitment by courts in the US, the UK, Germany, Japan, and China.”
