GIR 30 Ranks S&C as a Leading Firm for Corporate Investigations
November 22, 2022Sullivan & Cromwell has been ranked by Global Investigation Review (GIR) as one of the top law firms for complex multijurisdictional corporate investigations. The GIR 30 is a selective ranking of the world’s leading cross-border investigations practices.
This year S&C was recognized as one of the firms that made the biggest gains from the past year. The Firm has made the GIR 30 in each year that it has been published.
In the past year, S&C has handled complex investigations and brought several to favorable resolutions, including matters for:
- Allianz Global Investors U.S., the U.S. subsidiary of Allianz SE, which reached a swift $5.8 billion global settlement with the Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over losses by its Structured Alpha funds;
- Tenaris SA, which resolved multi-year investigations by the DOJ and SEC in which the DOJ closed its investigation without taking action. The company settled with the SEC by agreeing to pay a reduced penalty of $78 million without admitting or denying wrongdoing; and
- FCA US, which concluded its final major action arising from its EcoDiesel emissions issues, reaching a resolution with the DOJ that ended a six-year investigation involving more than 100,000 trucks.
