S&C Lawyers Participate in ABA Business Law Section Annual Meeting

The Business Law Section of the American Bar Association held its Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, September 13 to 15, with S&C lawyers speaking on various topics, and also being recognized.

On September 14, at the Section luncheon, William Kroener was recognized for his contributions as he concluded his terms on the Section Council (2014-18) and as a member of the Board of Editors of The Business Lawyer (2012-18, Volumes 68-73). That same day, Robert Risoleo spoke on a program titled “Allocating the Risk in Your Legal Opinions for Risk Allocation Clauses,” and Thomas Baxter spoke on a program titled “Maximizing Legal Compliance Functions – How to Ensure the Roles Are Complementary, Not Overlapping.”

On September 15, Rita O’Neill moderated a CLE program titled “The M&A Carveout: The Perils and Pitfalls of Partial Divestitures,” which was based on the Deal Points Study on Carveout Transaction that Rita chaired. Rita also moderated a Women in M&A Task Force panel, which discussed the impact of bias on women in the dealmaking world. Thomas Baxter spoke on a second program titled “SWIFT Customer Security Requirements, Article 4A, and a Further Threat of De-Risking in Correspondent Banking.” Thomas was also recognized for the completion of his term as a Business Law Advisor.
