Joseph E. Neuhaus, head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Arbitration practice and chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration of the Center for American and International Law’s Advisory Board, was a featured speaker at this year’s ITA Annual Workshop at the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Neuhaus delivered a welcome speech both days of the conference.
In this year’s program, titled “Expect the Unexpected: Adjudicating Changed Circumstances in Commercial and Treaty Arbitration,” the ITA explored the challenge of changed circumstances and associated legal doctrines and how they are addressed in contract and investment treaty arbitration. Leading international experts provided an overview of the applicable legal doctrines, contractual mechanisms and relevant investment treaty protections. Approximately 250-300 participants from more than 30 countries participated in the conference, which offered up to 8 hours of CLE credits and included keynote addresses, substantive panels on a variety of topics, a Young Lawyers Roundtable and networking events such as the Welcome Reception and an Oral History Luncheon.
Mr. Neuhaus frequently speaks in educational and professional development contexts, including as a regular lecturer at NYU Law School.
