On July 29, Ms. Leydier spoke on a panel titled “GLOBAL: The Convergence of National and International Regulation” as part of the American Conference Institute’s 10th National Forum on Insurance Regulation, which took place in New York. The discussion covered trends in the development of international standards for insurance company regulation, including financial reporting, capital and prudential regulation, focusing on initiatives by the Financial Stability Board and International Association of Insurance Supervisors; the European Union’s Solvency II directive; and the parallel evolution of the U.S. regulatory regime following the Dodd-Frank Act. The panel also addressed challenges faced by national insurers and best practices, among other topics.
