Garrard Beeney, co-head of S&C’s Intellectual Property Group, joined
a webinar to discuss the impact of the German Federal Supreme Court’s ruling in Sisvel v. Haier, a patent infringement case regarding standard essential patents (SEPs) and fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory (FRAND) licensing of SEPs. In the December 15 webinar, Garrard joined Dr. Cordula Schumacher of Arnold Ruess; former senior U.K. patent judge Sir Robin Jacob; and Florian Cordes, Head of European IP Litigation at Sisvel. The discussion, which was moderated by Sisvel president Mattia Fogliacco, examined the significance of the decision, what it will mean for lower courts, and the impact the decisions will have at a global level.
