From June 5 to 7, Michael DeSombre, as the board chair of Save the Children Hong Kong, hosted the global leadership of Save the Children in Hong Kong for the annual Members Meeting of Save the Children. The global board and senior management of Save the Children, including Helle Thorning-Schmidt, global CEO and former prime minister of Denmark, attended the meeting along with the local board chairs, CEOs and other representatives from 40 countries where Save the Children is active around the world. Save the Children was founded in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb after she witnessed the horrific effects that World War I had on children. Save the Children today comprises 28 Member Countries around the world that raise more than $2 billion funding annually and support programs in 140 countries and territories and focuses on the most marginalized and deprived children, aiming to ensure that every child has the right to survive, learn and be protected.
