On September 10, Ms. Seymour spoke at the New York City Bar in a panel discussion titled “Ethical Considerations for Corporate Investigations: Views from All Sides.” This three-hour panel covered current issues and recent developments relating to the ethical duties of participants in corporate internal investigations involving public companies and other entities. The panelists touched upon topics such as current developments concerning prosecution and regulatory strategies, conflicts of interest, protection and waiver of the attorney-client privilege, counseling of employee witnesses, the federalization of ethical obligations imposed on lawyers under the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation of 2002, the impact of the Dodd-Frank legislation of 2010 and issues pertaining to global investigations.
