Laura Kabler Oswell, co-head of the Firm’s FCPA and Anti-Corruption Group, has been selected by Daily Journal for their 2021 list of the “Top Women Lawyers” in California. This is Laura’s second time being named to the list.
Laura was recognized for her successful representation of Tiffany & Co. in litigation stemming from LVMH’s acquisition of Tiffany. The litigation team promptly obtained an important court victory, persuading the court to set a highly expedited trial schedule. Less than two months later, Laura and the S&C team guided Tiffany to a favorable resolution with LVMH, allowing both parties to return their focus to completing the high-profile acquisition. “Our team did a terrific job here in a fascinating and fast-moving case,” Laura told Daily Journal.
She was also recognized for her representation of Volkswagen in investigations and cross-border litigation stemming from the $1.2 billion landmark settlement that she helped negotiate with the Department of Justice, the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board. In a separate matter, Laura recently obtained the dismissal on behalf of Volkswagen of an antitrust suit brought by automotive parts supplier Prevent Group in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
