Client Highlight: Tiffany & Co.
S&C guides famed retailer to $16.2B purchase by LVMH
When Tiffany & Co. received an unsolicited bid from LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the 182-year old luxury goods retailer turned to us. Our experience representing many of the world’s most prominent luxury retailers—including Sotheby’s and eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, among others—made us uniquely suited for this deal.
In the end, we enabled Tiffany to reach a $16.2 billion deal that stands as the largest ever in the luxury retail sector. In addition to M&A matters, we helped the client with issues involving antitrust, tax, executive compensation, intellectual property, financing and CFIUS matters.
This landmark deal followed on the heels of the sale of another iconic institution, as we represented Sotheby’s in its $3.7 billion acquisition by a company controlled by Patrick Drahi.
