Alison Ressler and Eric Krautheimer Again Named to California Daily Journal’s “Top 100 Lawyers”
September 21, 2021M&A partners Alison Ressler and Eric Krautheimer were named to the “Top 100 Lawyers” by the Daily Journal, which “celebrates California attorneys doing cutting-edge legal work.” Alison has been recognized on this list for over a decade, and this is Eric’s fifth consecutive year on the list.
Alison is a leading authority on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and capital markets, whose 30-year career includes iconic deals. “This year was an opportunity to show what makes us so special,” Alison said. “The legal profession is a service business, and we served our clients well even as we supported each other.” For more than a decade, Alison has advised Ares Management Corp., which closed four major deals in the past two years. Alison counseled Ares and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board in acquiring a minority interest in TricorBraun, and she advised Ares in connection with Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets’ agreement to acquire Cincinnati Bell Inc. for $2.9 billion. “During the months of lockdown I completed as many deals as I ever have in my career,” Alison said. For more than 25 years, Eric has represented some of the world’s most important enterprises in transformative transactions, including the largest deal for a pre-commercial biopharmaceutical company and the largest all-cash takeover of a public company. Eric is currently leading S&C’s AT&T team in a deal in which its WarnerMedia unit will merge with Discovery Inc. to create a standalone entertainment company, Warner Bros. Discovery. He also advised AT&T in its agreement with TPG Capital that established New DirecTV, an entity with an enterprise value of $16.25 billion that owns and operates AT&T’s U.S. video business unit. “Both the TPG and WarnerMedia transactions are the kind of highly structured and complicated deals we live to work on,” Eric said.
