Rodge Cohen Interviewed on Bloomberg Radio

June 1, 2010

On June 1, Bloomberg Radio featured an interview with Mr. Cohen on the House and Senate financial regulatory reform bills. He said that a major flaw with the regulatory structure going into the financial crisis was the absence of a viable resolution regime, and the implicit "too big to fail doctrine," which the Senate bill addresses. Mr. Cohen noted that it is important to find a balance between reducing the risk in the system and maintaining the ability of banks to support economic activity. "We need to step back and look at that balance. I think everyone would agree that if we could reduce by 95 percent the risk of another 2008, you would accept some small reduction in annual GDP growth."
