Rodge Cohen Praised by William Isaac During Bloomberg TV Interview
December 14, 2011 On December 14, William Isaac, chairman of Fifth Third Bancorp and a former chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, discussed his long-standing relationship with Mr. Cohen during his feature on Bloomberg TV's “Surveillance Midday.” As Mr. Isaac explained, “I met Rodge for the first time when I was a very young chairman of the FDIC, trying to deal with the failure of Continental Illinois [National Bank and Trust Company], which was our seventh-largest bank. Mr. Cohen was representing the bank, so we got to know each other then. He's a man who is very, very smart and very creative, and that came out during that episode as we were figuring out ways to deal with it [the Continental Illinois crisis].” Mr. Isaac continued, “I've known him well since, he's a friend and he's probably the most successful banking lawyer in history.” Tom Keene, host of “Surveillance Midday,” added, “He's biblical.”
