Rodge Cohen Explores Subject of Bank M&A in Dow Jones Investment Banker

September 20, 2010

The September 20 edition of Dow Jones Investment Banker features an interview with Mr. Cohen in which he discusses the new regulations regarding Tier 1 capital for banks. He described the new capital levels as adequate, “once you take into account that systematically significant banks will have an additional surcharge both under Basel and Dodd-Frank,” referring to the new reforms. The interview featured an accompanying video, “Bank M&A: Leaving the Problems Behind,” in which Mr. Cohen discusses the outlook for bank deals. “Until we see an improvement in the overall economy, there will continue to be a damper on bank M&A,” he said, though he added there are ways of structuring deals to solve credit quality problems for buyers.
