Frank Aquila Examines M&A in Uncertain Market on Bloomberg TV

August 17, 2011

On August 17, Mr. Aquila was featured on Bloomberg Television's “Bottom Line” where he discussed the impact of market volatility on M&A activity and the outlook for dealmaking. Mr. Aquila observed that while volatility can hamper M&A to a certain extent, he said he believed that the fundamentals for major transactions were in place, including large corporate cash reserves and favorable valuations. He also noted that companies have a “strategic need to do deals,” particularly companies “that are competing globally” and “need to expand their footprint.” Mr. Aquila said that, in general, he expected the energy, basic materials and technology sectors to be the strongest for M&A.
