In the interview, Mr. Aquila discussed the possible impact of the political upheaval in Egypt on the global economy. “External forces can interrupt an otherwise active M&A cycle,” he said, citing as examples Enron and the Russian default. Given Egypt's strategic importance to the oil industry, turmoil there could pose a threat to worldwide M&A, Mr. Aquila said. Although, he added, “usually that's not where the problems come from.”
