Frank Aquila Discusses M&A Environment on CNBC’s “Closing Bell”

August 20, 2010

Mr. Aquila was a guest on CNBC's “Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo” on August 20. Mr. Aquila and Ms. Bartiromo discussed the recent burst of M&A activity. Mr. Aquila noted, “Normally [August] is the quietest month of the year for M&A and we're seeing activity levels you see in March or April. I think we're going have a very, very busy fall.” He added, “People have sort of understood that we may not have this really robust recovery but we're probably not going to slide back into a recession and companies just can't keep building these cash piles.” Mr. Aquila also said that upcoming deals will likely be predominantly domestic but that “We're going to see a lot of international deals and not just the old fashioned U.S. to Europe. I think we're going to see China to Latin America, China to Africa, Latin America to the rest of the world. I think it's truly going to be a global consolidation in lots of industries.”
