On November 26, Mr. Aquila was a guest on Bloomberg TV's “Street Smart” and discussed the prospect for M&A dealmaking in 2013. When asked about factors affecting the current low in deal volume, Mr. Aquila said buyers are less motivated because of the economy and the uncertainty surrounding the so-called fiscal cliff. Mr. Aquila predicts these concerns will diminish if President Obama and Congress resolve the fiscal cliff with a package that promotes growth. “Buyers are there because the synergies are there. The cash is there, and the ability to borrow at fairly low rates is there. It is just the economic impetus to do the deal.”
