Pedro José Izquierdo is a special counsel in S&C’s Litigation Group and a member of the Firm’s International Arbitration and Latin America Practices, where he focuses on complex international disputes under civil law, common law, and public international law. His practice encompasses commercial, investment and construction disputes in English and Spanish under the major international arbitration rules (ICC, ICDR, ICSID, LCIA, UNCITRAL, etc.), acting both as counsel and in the preparation of legal expert reports for disputes in various jurisdictions.
Mr. Izquierdo, a native Spanish speaker, has represented public and private sector clients from a wide range of industries, including energy, natural resources, mining, oil and gas, construction, financial services, insurance, telecommunications and infrastructure, and across several geographical regions. Trained in Spain and the United States, he has particular expertise in Latin America, including in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Chile, and Peru.
In addition to his arbitration work, Mr. Izquierdo has experience handling antitrust, appellate, administrative, and tax litigation in Latin America. He also regularly advises on the drafting of arbitration and other dispute resolution clauses in international contracts.
