Michael Kern is a European Counsel in S&C’s Frankfurt office and a member of our General Practice Group. His practice focuses on the areas of Banking and Finance, Restructuring, and Banking Supervisory Law.
Michael’s extensive financing and restructuring experience includes advising investors and lenders in connection with the financing and restructuring of leveraged buyouts, including ongoing advice during the financing period (waiver requests, dividend recaps, incremental facilities, etc.). He also provides ongoing advice on insolvency and financing law questions in connection with transactions and litigation, in particular questions relating to cross-border matters and questions that arise in the context of M&A transactions (release of collateral, vendor loans, shareholder loans), as well as advising distressed debt investors (debt purchase (NPL), claim registration, segregation). The advice on issues relating to bank M&A is also part of his practice area. Furthermore, he regularly advises banks and financial service providers on a variety of regulatory issues.
Before joining S&C in 2024, Michael was a senior attorney at another leading international law firm in Frankfurt.
