John Bostelman joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1979 and became a partner of the Firm in 1986. He has a broad financial and corporate practice, including the areas of public and private securities offerings, corporate governance, investment management, commodities and derivatives and broker-dealer regulation. He is a member of the Firm's Corporate and Finance, Financial Services, Investment Management, and Commodities, Futures and Derivatives Groups.
Mr. Bostelman's wide securities experience includes SEC-registered public offerings, unregistered Rule 144A offerings and Regulation S offerings. These offerings have involved issuers in a variety of businesses, including those in banking, computers, electronics and entertainment, investment companies, natural gas, publishing, radio broadcasting, retailing, telecommunications, securities brokerage and steel.
Mr. Bostelman is the author of The Sarbanes-Oxley Deskbook (2003, The Practising Law Institute), a comprehensive, three-volume treatise on the governance and disclosure reforms for legal and accounting professionals. Mr. Bostelman is past chair of the Securities Registration subcommittee of the ABA Federal Regulation of Securities Committee. He is a regular faculty member and speaker at conferences of the Practising Law Institute, the American Bar Association, the Northwestern University-San Diego Securities Institute and the American Law Institute-American Bar Association.
