    Hilary Williams is Of Counsel in S&C’s Litigation Group. Ms. Williams’s practice focuses on high-stakes litigation matters and related regulatory and internal investigations.  Her clients include Goldman Sachs, UBS AG, Allianz, FirstEnergy and FTX, among others.

    Experience

    Securities and Complex Commercial Litigation*

    • Allianz in more than 25 individual and class action lawsuits and in investigations by the SEC and DOJ related to Structured Alpha hedge funds managed by Allianz; led the effort to resolve all pending and unasserted claims by Structured Alpha Investors across U.S.
    • Allianz SE in securing the dismissal with prejudice, upheld on appeal, of a putative securities fraud class action asserting securities fraud claims against Allianz SE and Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC (AGI US) based on government settlements and investors losses relating to “Structured Alpha” funds that AGI US managed.
    • UBS in litigation brought by the DOJ under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act relating to sales of residential mortgage-backed securities prior to the 2007-2008 financial crisis.
    • UBS in more than 35 litigation matters under federal securities and state blue sky laws in connection with residential mortgage-backed securities and collateralized debt obligations.
    • FirstEnergy in securities litigation and in litigation brought by the Ohio Attorney General in connection with alleged improper political contributions.

    • An individual in an SEC insider trading investigation.
    • Technology companies in derivative litigation and securities litigation.

    Labor & Employment

    • Goldman Sachs in a class action accusing the bank of discriminating against over 3,000 women in pay and promotions. 

    Cryptocurrency

    • FTX in investigations related to its bankruptcy.
