André Garcia do Fôjo is an associate in Sullivan & Cromwell’s European Competition Group. André’s practice covers all aspects of EU competition law, including merger control, cartels, and state aid, litigation in the EU courts, international trade, foreign subsidies and EU regulation. Prior to joining the firm, André was a référendaire (legal adviser) for several years to Judge Rosario Silva de Lapuerta, vice-president of the Court of Justice of the European Union. In that position, he worked on EU competition law cases, including cartel, abuse of dominance, merger control and state aid cases, and EU regulatory cases. André was also responsible for handling interim measures proceedings in cases before the Court of Justice of the European Union, including in the first environmental inter-State dispute in the Court’s history. He is fluent in Portuguese, French and English.
