Frank Aquila Expects Increase in M&A Activity in 2010 (Bloomberg Radio)
January 9, 2010Mr. Aquila was interviewed on Bloomberg Radio about the mergers and acquisitions market outlook for 2010. Mr. Aquila predicted that there will be a high volume of deal activity, both in the United States and internationally. This increase will be fueled by two trends: companies with too much debt that need to sell capital or be acquired; and global enterprises acquiring U.S. companies while the value of the dollar is still fairly low. He noted that particularly active sectors will be financial institutions – especially in light of continued consolidation in financial services – energy, consumer products, real estate, construction and entertainment. Mr. Aquila also discussed unsolicited bids and said that he expects them to increase throughout 2010 by acting as a platform to strengthen corporate strategy.
