    Many HLS alumni hold significant leadership roles at the Firm, including Senior Chair Rodge Cohen (HLS ’68) and Co-Head of Global Recruiting Sergio Galvis (HLS ’83). HLS partners, associates and special counsel serve on the Firm’s Associate Experience Committee, Diversity Committee and Women’s Initiative Committee, and several HLS alumni serve as managing partners of practice groups or offices.

    S&C Joins Harvard Association for Law and Business Women’s History Month “Women in Big Law Leadership” Panel

    On April 1, 2024, Tracy Richelle High spoke on the Harvard Association for Law and Business Women’s History Month “Women in Big Law Leadership” Panel. Tracy, along with panelists from other firms, spoke about her experience and answered questions on navigating the legal profession as a woman.

    S&C Hosts Harvard Association for Law & Business Panel and Happy Hour

    On January 11, 2024, Partner Rob Schlein and Associates Grier Barnes, Christian Hodges, and Travis Lesch spoke on a panel during a private event with HALB members. The panel covered S&C’s General Practice group, examining the top ten most active matters. After the panel, S&C hosted a happy hour for those in attendance at Grafton Street Pub in Cambridge, MA.

    S&C Attends Harvard Black Law Students Association 1L Job Fair

    On November 29, 2023, Associates Florence Kuhl and Craig Campbell participated in Harvard BLSA’s 1L Job Fair. The event allowed Florence and Craig to meet with 1Ls one-on-one to discuss specific opportunities and answer questions about S&C.

    Longstanding Relationship

    Sullivan & Cromwell’s relationship with Harvard Law School dates back to 1891, when Edward Bruce Hill, one of S&C’s first partners, joined the Firm. Today, more than 100 graduates of Harvard Law School⁠ practice at S&C. HLS graduates are represented in eight of the Firm’s 13 offices worldwide, and 36 of the Firm’s partners are HLS alumni. Many of our HLS alumni at S&C have clerked, including on the U.S. Supreme Court and at the federal appellate level.

    In addition to becoming partners at S&C, HLS alumni who join the Firm go on to pursue a range of prestigious opportunities. S&C alumni who attended HLS serve as managing directors at major financial institutions; Assistant U.S. Attorneys; law school professors; and counsel at Fortune 500 companies including Google, NBCUniversal and Goldman Sachs.

    Today, S&C continues to partner with HLS both in and out of the classroom. In 2012, the Firm endowed a visiting professorship at the law school, which has brought accomplished professors, such as Amy Cohen, Justin Driver, Helen Hershkoff, Laura Rosenbury, Hillary Sale, and George Triantis, to campus.
