S&C Women Leading the Way – Amanda Flug Davidoff

Amanda chose litigation because she enjoys problem-solving, debating and writing. She says she picked S&C among the other firms she was considering because she was impressed with the people she met⁠—in particular, the women with whom she interviewed. Amanda has worked on a variety of civil litigation matters⁠—which, she explains, means she is always learning something new. She particularly enjoys securities litigation because “it has been a rapidly evolving area” in recent years.

Amanda was on a flex-time schedule as an associate, usually taking Fridays off to spend time with her two children. Amanda began working flex-time when her son was born in 2008. She says, “the Firm and the individuals with whom I worked supported my desire to block out some family time, and staffed me on cases that were appropriate for my schedule.”

When asked what about S&C appeals to her most, Amanda points to the depth and breadth of knowledge of its attorneys and their willingness to share that knowledge with each other. “I never hesitate to call colleagues for advice—whether or not they are working on my matters—and I have never gotten anything but generous assistance.” She enjoys working in S&C’s Washington, D.C. office, noting that the office’s small size fosters a close-knit environment while its practice benefits from the resources and diversity of work offered by a global law firm.

Amanda says that living in the Washington, D.C., area is great for families with young kids, noting the multitude of museums, arts programs and parks. When they are not exploring the city, Amanda and her family like to travel.
