Anthony Lewis for California: Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations
Anthony is Co-Head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s National Security Practice, a member of the Firm’s Criminal Defense and Investigations Group and Co-Head of the Firm’s Cybersecurity Practice. His practice focuses on international and government investigations and on cybersecurity incident response and advice. Last year, Tony’s matters involved a range of issues, including sanctions and export controls, anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing, and investigations brought by the DOJ and other regulators. Tony is part of the S&C team that has helped FTX track down and recover more than $7 billion in liquid assets in connection with one of most complex and high-profile bankruptcies and financial investigations in history.

Christopher Viapiano is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Litigation Group, Co-Head of the Firm’s Securities Litigation Practice and a member of the Criminal Defense & Investigations Group. He represents financial institutions and other leading companies in securities and shareholder derivative litigation, antitrust and commodities litigation, books and records demands and litigation, criminal and regulatory enforcement matters, and corporate internal investigations. Last year, Christopher represented Discover Financial Services in resolving Federal Reserve and FDIC investigations, a crucial step in Discover’s path to completing its $50.6 billion merger with Capital One. He recently secured the dismissal of a purported securities class action against Discover Financial Services and has led S&C’s representation of Wells Fargo for many years.

Peter Jones is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s M&A, Technology, Digital Infrastructure and Private Equity Groups and is resident in the Firm’s Palo Alto office. Peter represents high-growth and established technology clients and financial sponsors on mission critical transactions. Pete advised Elon Musk on his $113 billion combination of xAI and X and his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, xAI on more than $30 billion of financings and its $250 billion sale to SpaceX, Tesla on a number of acquisitions and governance matters, Broadcom on its strategic partnerships with Google and Anthropic, Ansys on its $35 billion sale to Synopsys and Splunk on its $30 billion sale to Cisco Systems.
Zachary Goldman for Nationwide International Trade: Export Controls & Economic Sanctions
Zachary Goldman is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Financial Services Group and National Security Practice. He has extensive experience advising clients in the financial services, digital assets and technology industries, among others, and on complex regulatory and enforcement issues related to OFAC sanctions, Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, digital asset regulations and national security law. In addition to his experience working with banks, broker/dealers and investment managers, he has significant expertise in AML, sanctions and financial crime risk management considerations with respect to non-bank payments and digital asset companies.
