Keiji Hatano, Managing Partner of S&C’s Tokyo office, was named one of Asia Business Law Journal’s Top Lawyers in Japan, an “A-List” of Japan's legal profession based on extensive research conducted by the publication. He has been recognized in this list for five consecutive years.
Keiji has recently advised on a number of high-profile transactions, including representing:
- Nippon Steel in its ¥600 billion convertible bond offering, the largest convertible bond offering ever by a Japanese corporation;
- Japan Post Bank in its ¥592 billion global stock offering, the largest equity offering in Japan in 2025; and
- Makino Milling Machine in its dealing with Nidec’s unsolicited tender offer (which successfully resulted in Nidec withdrawing the offer).
