    Sullivan & Cromwell Strengthens London Private Capital Practice with Leading High Yield and Restructuring Partners Patrick Bright and William Needham

    LONDON (FEBRUARY 13, 2026) – Sullivan & Cromwell LLP announced today that Patrick Bright and William Needham will join the firm as partners. Their arrival continues the momentum in S&C’s London office, reflecting increased client demand for the most sophisticated advice across high yield, private credit, restructuring and special situations.

    Mr. Bright is a preeminent capital markets lawyer and joins to lead the firm’s high yield capability. He regularly acts for leading investment banks, sponsors, corporates and bond investors on marquee high-yield offerings and leveraged finance transactions. His experience also spans bond restructurings, complex capital markets transactions and general U.S. securities law matters, giving him a deep familiarity with capital structures across the debt cycle. Mr. Bright is ranked as a Leading Individual by Chambers UK for Capital Markets: High Yield Products, a Market Leader for Capital Markets: High Yield by IFLR1000 UK and as a Leading Partner for High Yield by Legal 500 UK.

    Mr. Needham joins as Co-Head of S&C’s European Restructuring and Special Situations practice. He is a leading restructuring and special situations lawyer with first-hand experience as a principal investor. Ranked by Chambers UK for Restructuring and Insolvency, his practice focuses on complex cross-border restructurings, distressed debt, bespoke capital solutions and private credit workouts for asset managers, sponsors and corporates across Europe. Mr. Needham has advised on a wide range of prominent restructurings and special situations, including creditor committee roles, sponsor-driven restructurings and complex capital solutions involving high yield, private credit and hybrid instruments.

    Sullivan & Cromwell LLP announced today that Yaira Dubin has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. Ms. Dubin joins S&C from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of the Solicitor General. As an Assistant to the Solicitor General from 2021 to 2025, Ms. Dubin represented the United States in matters before the Supreme Court, supervised priority litigation in federal appellate and district courts, and advised agencies across the federal government. Now returning to private practice, Ms. Dubin will strengthen S&C’s litigation capabilities and expand the footprint of the firm’s leading Supreme Court and Appellate Practice in New York.

    “Yaira is one of the most accomplished appellate lawyers of her generation,” said Sullivan & Cromwell Co-Chairs Robert Giuffra and Scott Miller. “We have built a preeminent Supreme Court and Appellate Practice over the last decade, and Yaira will allow us to grow that practice in New York, where our financial services and other clients are increasingly turning to us for their most important appeals.”

    Ms. Dubin has won major copyright, bankruptcy, tax, labor and employment, constitutional, and civil rights appeals. She has argued six cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, including Cunningham v. Cornell University (ERISA); United States v. Miller (bankruptcy); Connelly v. United States (tax); Warner Chappell Music v. Nealy (copyright damages); Santos-Zacaria v. Garland (jurisdiction); and Andy Warhol Foundation v. Goldsmith (copyright fair use). While at the Solicitor General’s Office, Ms. Dubin also filed over 100 Supreme Court briefs at the merits and certiorari stages, involving diverse areas of federal law such as securities regulation, federal contracting, intellectual property, criminal procedure, sovereign immunity, the Medicare Act, the First Amendment, and reproductive rights. During her previous tenure in private practice, Ms. Dubin successfully litigated on behalf of her clients in federal and state appellate courts across the country. Outside the courtroom, Ms. Dubin counsels clients on legal and strategic objectives, including clients at the cutting edge of innovation navigating novel regulatory questions.

    Ms. Dubin earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and her bachelor’s degree in Biology, summa cum laude, from Yeshiva University. She clerked at all three levels of the federal judiciary: for Justice Elena Kagan on the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Sri Srinivasan on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge James E. Boasberg on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
