S&C was named a Banking “Practice Group of the Year” by Law360. In an interview with the publication, Jared Fishman and Stephen Salley, partners in the Firm’s Financial Services Group, said the Group’s generalist model has long been a differentiating feature of S&C’s approach to financial services.
“We have a 360-degree view of these deals," says Stephen. “The advice we're able to give, because of that view, is qualitatively different from what we see others may provide, and not just because it's more efficient or because we have tighter teams, but because you have someone focused on the whole rather than on individual pieces.”
The Firm advised on each of the six largest U.S. bank deals announced in 2025, including advising Fifth Third Bancorp in its acquisition of Comerica in a $10.9 billion all-stock transaction and Pinnacle Financial Partners in its agreement with Synovus Financial to combine in an all-stock transaction valued at $8.6 billion. The group also guided Discover through the closing of its $50.6 billion merger with Capital One in 2025. Beyond headline matters, the Firm’s banking practice spans institutions of all sizes.
More broadly, S&C was named a “Firm of the Year” by Law360 in six practice areas—tied for the second most of any firm.
