The American Lawyer Shortlists S&C for Energy and Tech/Telecom 2026 ‘Corporate Practices of the Year’ Awards

The American Lawyer has named S&C a finalist for two of its 2026 “Corporate Practices of the Year” awards. The awards highlight the legal industry’s most impactful and important work of the past two years.

S&C was shortlisted for “Best Corporate Practice: Energy” for advising energy companies across continents on landmark, innovative deals, including:

• the U.S. Department of Energy on its $26.5 billion in loan guarantees for Alabama Power Company and Georgia Power Company, the largest-ever single provision of credit by the agency;
• Sempra Infrastructure Partners on concurrent multibillion-dollar transactions to finance the second phase of its $14 billion Port Arthur LNG project;
• Enbridge on its $14 billion acquisition of three utility providers, creating the largest gas utility business, by volume, in North America; and
• VMOS on securing its $2 billion loan facility to finance the Vaca Muerta Sur Pipeline project in Argentina.

S&C was also shortlisted for “Best Corporate Practice: Tech/Telecom” for advising on some of the most influential, hallmark matters in the tech sector, including:

• OpenAI on industry-shaping deals designed to meet the demands of the AI revolution that bring together complex technologies and supply chains and require historic levels of capital investment, including its partnerships with Microsoft, Amazon, AMD, SB Energy and Cerebras;
• xAI on its $113 billion merger with X and its $250 billion acquisition by SpaceX, the largest acquisition involving a private target;
• Broadcom on the establishment of its AI XPV Platform with Apollo and Blackstone as initial anchor investors, the expansion of its collaboration with Google and Anthropic, its partnership with OpenAI for 10GW of custom AI accelerators and its multi-generation strategic partnership with Meta to support Meta’s rapidly scaling artificial intelligence compute infrastructure; and
• AT&T on its $23 billion acquisition of wireless spectrum licenses from EchoStar, a deal that will expand the spectrum portfolio of the United States’ largest wireless network operator.

Winners will be announced at the awards dinner on November 12 in New York City.
