Kay Ian Ng, Managing Partner of S&C’s Hong Kong office, has been named “M&A Lawyer of the Year” by Law.com International’s Asia Legal Awards for advising clients on transformative and innovative M&A deals.
With 35 years of experience, Kay Ian recently led the S&C team on a number of landmark transactions in Greater China, including:
- ENN Natural Gas on its proposed pre-conditional $11.6 billion privatization of ENN Energy Holdings and its proposed concurrent listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange;
- DCP Capital on its acquisition from Alibaba entities of its majority stake in, and mandatory general offer for, Sun Art Retail Group, valuing the target at approximately $2 billion;
- the $7.1 billion privatization of ESR Group; and
- China Oriental on its two industry-transforming joint venture agreements with ArcelorMittal S.A.
Chambers Greater China Region 2025 recognized him as a Band 1 lawyer in China Corporate/M&A, with a source saying: “He has great technical skills, a good network and a calm and reassured quality to him. His instinct and ability to read situations are uncommon. He's at the top of my list for any form of M&A deal.”
