The S&C team of Robert Giuffra Jr., Sharon Nelles, David Rein, Nicholas Menillo, Morgan Ratner and Maxwell Gottschall were named runner-up “Litigators of the Week” for obtaining an appellate win with significant implications for companies and their counsel who regularly conduct corporate internal investigations. On a petition of mandamus, the team persuaded the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to vacate a district court’s order in securities litigation granting plaintiffs access to FirstEnergy’s internal investigations conducted by two other law firms.
Previously, Robert Giuffra Jr., David Rein and Nicholas Menillo were named “Litigators of the Week” for obtaining a Sixth Circuit ruling staying enforcement of the order on the writ of mandamus.
Separately, in this same case, S&C persuaded the Sixth Circuit to vacate the certification of a multiyear class of FirstEnergy investors seeking extensive damages.
