Dustin Guzior and Laurie Stempler, together with Knobbe Martens, were named first runner-up for The American Lawyer’s “Litigator of the Week” for helping Masimo Corp. win a $634 million patent infringement jury verdict against Apple. Medical technology company Masimo claimed that Apple infringed a patent on health-monitoring features incorporated into smart watches. After an eight-day trial, federal jurors in Orange County, California, found that Apple infringed on Masimo’s patent for a low-power pulse oximeter and awarded the damages Masimo requested.
They were also named Law360’s “Legal Lions of the Week” for the win.
