S&C Shortlisted for ‘Bankruptcy Firm of the Year’ by Benchmark Litigation

S&C was shortlisted for “Bankruptcy Firm of the Year” in Benchmark Litigation’s 2025 U.S. Awards. The awards recognize “the country’s most distinguished litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the past 12 months.” Nominees are selected after extensive interviews with litigators, dispute-resolution specialists and clients.

S&C advised clients on some of the most high-profile, complex bankruptcy proceedings in the past year, including:

• FTX Trading in obtaining court approval of its $14+ billion Chapter 11 reorganization plan and emerging from Chapter 11 just over two years after its international headline-grabbing collapse and historic bankruptcy filing. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge John Dorsey described this as a “model case for how to deal with a very complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding”;
• SVB Financial Group, the former parent company of Silicon Valley Bank, in obtaining confirmation of its Chapter 11 plan less than two years after its freefall filing following the third-largest bank failure in U.S. history;
• The Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball in the Chapter 11 proceedings of Diamond Sports, which highlighted the challenges facing the traditional linear telecast model for regional sports telecasts; and
• Kidde-Fenwal in earning Bankruptcy Court approval for the sale of its operating business in the first-ever Chapter 11 case aiming to resolve national mass tort liability related to “forever chemicals,” per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
