Umberto Hassan, a member of S&C’s General Practice Group, was named a “Rising Star” at the IFLR Europe Awards—one of just eight honorees overall and four in the “Global” category.
Umberto’s practice covers a broad range of areas including capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring. Umberto’s recent representations include advising a pool of senior secured lenders on the comprehensive restructuring of Markbygden ETT AB, Europe’s largest onshore wind farm; and Emirates Telecommunications Group Company (known as e&) on its acquisition of a 15 percent stake in Vodafone Group plc and its acquisition of a controlling stake in PPF Telecom Group’s telecommunication businesses in central eastern Europe.
This last landmark matter involved the first in-depth merger investigation under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) and the first time the European Commission has accepted remedies in an FSR case. e& is the UAE’s largest telecoms operator.
