Minera Centinela’s $2.5 billion project financing for its $4.5 billion copper mine expansion in Chile’s Antofagasta region was named “Mining Financing of the Year” at the LatinFinance Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards.
As the demand for copper has soared to meet the needs of the energy transition, S&C has played a key role for Minera Centinela’s expansion and in some of the world’s largest copper projects. This project exemplifies the cross-border expertise of S&C’s Project Development & Finance Practice, not only in negotiating the terms of the transaction, but in providing counsel thereafter to develop an integration strategy that will continue to mitigate the mine’s environmental impact.
