Morgan Ratner and Mark Schenkel have been named to Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” report highlighting exceptional young lawyers at law firms, companies, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
Morgan is a partner in S&C’s Litigation Group and is a member of the Firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate Practice. She is a well-recognized appellate and Supreme Court advocate and has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court nine times. Morgan’s recent accomplishments include playing a leading role in obtaining a unanimous Supreme Court ruling for Great Lakes Insurance in a maritime insurance case; helping Goldman Sachs obtain the reversal of class certification in a long-running securities class action; and arguing cases in various courts of appeals on issues from antitrust to contract law to FOIA.

Mark is a partner in S&C’s Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Group and a member of the Firm’s Artificial Intelligence Practice. He has been at the forefront of the Firm’s work on emerging technology issues, counseling a broad range of clients on matters regarding AI, intellectual property and technology transactions, privacy and cybersecurity. Mark’s work includes advising OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT and Dall-E, in its multibillion-dollar partnership with Microsoft; Character.ai, a conversational AI platform backed by Andreessen Horowitz, in its strategic compute partnership with Google Cloud for cloud infrastructure to train and build sophisticated AI models; and AT&T in the combination of its WarnerMedia business with Discovery that created a premier, standalone global entertainment company.
