S&C’s Supreme Court and Appellate Practice has been named to The National Law Journal’s “Appellate Hot List” for delivering a number of recent wins for our clients in a broad range of cases:
- We obtained a unanimous U.S. Supreme Court reversal in Great Lakes Insurance v. Raiders Retreat Realty, an important case for the maritime insurance industry
- In the most closely watched securities case in recent years, we persuaded the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to reverse the certification of a class of Goldman Sachs shareholders seeking $13 billion
- In one of the first major decisions on agency rulemaking since the Supreme Court overturned Chevron deference, we persuaded the Sixth Circuit to stay the FCC’s “net neutrality” rule on behalf of the telecommunications industry
- We prevailed for Bayer in an appeal before the en banc Delaware Supreme Court in a multibillion-dollar case involving liability for consumer talc product claims
“Our unanimous Supreme Court victory for Great Lakes Insurance, overturning a Third Circuit decision, was a terrific win for our client and for the maritime insurance industry,” said Jeff Wall, Head of S&C's Supreme Court and Appellate Practice. “It’s as complete a victory as you’ll ever get.”
