Melissa Sawyer, Global Head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group, has been named a finalist for The American Lawyer’s “Corporate Attorney of the Year” award for “Private Equity and M&A.”
Melissa is one of the most prominent and respected dealmakers in the United States. Under her leadership, S&C maintained its position as the top law firm adviser for global M&A deals in 2023, with Melissa heading teams for some of the most significant deals in the market.
Melissa co-led the S&C team that advised Seagen on its $43 billion acquisition by Pfizer, the largest all-cash pharma takeover in history and the largest-ever all-cash acquisition of a pre-profitability company in any industry. She also co-led the S&C team that advised Subway on its acquisition by Roark Capital, which the Financial Times called one of the largest private equity buyouts of 2023.
