Río Magdalena’s $746 million financing for the construction of a 153-kilometer toll road, for which S&C advised Fiduciaria Bancolombia as trustee of Río Magdalena, was named “Road Financing of the Year” by LatinFinance.
The financing consists of a $248 million project bond issuance and $498 million syndicated credit facilities with Colombian and international lenders. The toll road will connect the two major economic centers of Colombia, Antioquia and Santander. It is one of 29 projects awarded by the Colombian government since launching the 4G highway concession program 2013 to modernize road infrastructure in Colombia.
The project also won “Transportation Deal of the Year (Americas)” at the Project Finance International Awards.
The S&C team was led by Werner Federico Ahlers.
