Mitch Eitel, the Managing Partner of S&C’s Financial Services Group, was named a 2022 “Dealmaker of the Year” by the New York Law Journal. The award recognizes New York’s top transactional lawyers based on their work over the prior year.
In bank M&A deals last year, the team advised principals on announced deals totaling $52 billion—representing two-thirds of announced deals and making S&C the top firm advising on bank M&A. For announced deals of at least $1 billion in the last year and half, the group’s market share tops 80 percent.
Mitch personally led some of the group’s biggest deals, including advising BNP Paribas, Europe’s largest bank, in the $16.3 billion pending sale of its Bank of the West business.
Mitch was also recognized for his work in support of minority-owned financial institutions, including advising the U.S. Treasury on its $9 billion Emergency Capital Investment Program, which is making investments in more than 180 minority-owned financial institutions.
