The Financial Times has named S&C as a finalist for four FT Innovative Lawyers North America Awards. The awards recognize “the best in innovation from law firms and in-house legal teams in the North America region.”
S&C was shortlisted in the following categories:
- “Innovation in Enabling Business Growth” for advising Tiffany & Co. in its acquisition by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, including in related litigation as plaintiff against LVMH in Delaware Court of Chancery;
- “Innovation in Rescue and Recovery” for helping the Interim Government of Venezuela free and disburse $80 million in previously frozen funds to health care workers and others; and
- “Innovation in Social Justice” for obtaining reduced sentences for two pro bono clients under New York’s Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act (DVSJA), which also will favorably impact how courts apply the DVSJA in the future.
Additionally, Sergio Galvis, the head of S&C’s Latin America practice, has been shortlisted for “Most Innovative Legal Practitioner” for leading S&C’s work for the Venezuelan Interim Government, helping to disburse funds to health care workers and others via a blockchain and bank-connected payment platform.
