Three S&C matters were honored with four awards at the 2020 The Deal Awards New York. These awards recognize “the leading lawyers, bankers, advisers and investors shaping The Deal Economy.”
Merck KGaA’s $6.4 billion takeover of Versum Materials – which broke up Versum’s previously agreed merger with Entegris – won “Cross-border Deal of the Year.” The global team representing Merck was led by Matt Hurd, Eric Krautheimer and York Schnorbus, and included lawyers from our global antitrust, tax, intellectual property and litigation practices.
United Technologies’ merger-of-equals with Raytheon won the overall “Deal of the Year” and “Energy & Industrials Deal of the Year.” S&C advised Morgan Stanley, which acted as financial adviser to United Technologies. The S&C team was led by Frank Aquila, Audra Cohen and Matthew Goodman.
Invesco’s acquisition of OppenheimerFunds from MassMutual won “Financial Services Deal of the Year.” S&C advised Lazard, which served as financial adviser to MassMutual. The S&C team was led by Mark Menting and Keith Pagnani.
