Nicolas Bourtin was recognized as a White Collar, Regulatory & Compliance Trailblazer by The National Law Journal. In a profile of him published by The NLJ, Nicolas spoke of his accomplishments in the criminal defense and investigations space. “The ultimate success in white-collar work is convincing government agencies not to bring public charges at all. That said, I’ve been lucky to have worked on a number of the most groundbreaking corporate criminal investigations in the country,” he said.
The profile highlights some of these matters, including sanctions prosecutions against major non-U.S. banks and FCPA investigations against non-U.S. energy companies. Nicolas also discussed his ideas about deterring corporate fraud. “We will begin to see corporate cultures evolve to be more open and responsive to dissenting views and internal challenge. Companies that succeed in creating such a culture will thrive in our heightened regulatory landscape; those that fail will remain mired in scandal,” he said.
