Melissa Sawyer, S&C’s Co-head of Global M&A, appeared on Bloomberg Deals to offer insight into the current M&A landscape. She discussed how increased activity led the Firm to the top of the M&A league tables in H1, her expectations for continued strength in M&A volume and the disruption caused by deals in the AI sector.
“We are seeing deals of all sizes and all sectors,” she said. “It’s not just one or two blockbuster transactions. A lot is happening and it is across borders, and that means the pipeline will continue to refill as deals run off.”
She highlighted the technology industry, specifically artificial intelligence compute and energy-adjacent transactions, as one of the Firm’s areas of focus. “It is the biggest disruption in any industry that I have seen in my lifetime,” she said. “The entire ecosystem of dealmaking is shifting into this new linguistic environment where people are talking about AI differently.”
