Frank Aquila, S&C’s Senior M&A Partner, appeared on Bloomberg TV’s New to The Street to discuss M&A activity in 2026. He noted that today’s robust M&A environment is being fueled by megadeals and the growth of AI.
The M&A market is seeing a “tale of two cities,” said Frank. “When you look at smaller mid-market deals, the numbers are way down, but if you look at the overall M&A picture, it looks like we could have $4 trillion or more of deals this year, and the vast majority are going to come from megadeals of $10 billion or more.”
Looking ahead, Frank predicts that AI will be at the forefront of M&A. “The story is going to be AI, its consequences, its disruption and that’s going to lead to a lot more consolidation,” he said. In general, “the flow of transactions is going to be pretty consistent and pretty significant.”
