Frank Aquila, S&C’s Senior M&A Partner, discussed the recent surge in deal size, as large corporate transactions recorded their strongest quarterly performance. He also highlighted the momentum in deal activity and potential for smaller transactions to rebound as the year progresses.
“If we get a bit of stability in the markets and the economy, the floodgates could open to a phenomenal M&A year where companies are doing $100 million deals and $2 billion deals, all the while the $50- and $100-billion deals continue,” Frank said.
Sullivan & Cromwell led all law firm advisers in announced global deals in the first quarter of 2026, advising on more than $540 billion in transactions and capturing a 35.4 percent market share.
