Ha Jin (Tessa) Lee was profiled in “How I Made It,” a series of career advice and success story interviews from The American Lawyer. Tessa, a partner in S&C’s Tax Group, discussed what brought her to S&C, the importance of seeking out mentors and the benefits of spending time with peers at the firm outside of working interactions.
She also offered advice for associates interested in making partner, highlighting the importance of being honest with leadership about one’s strengths and interests. “[Be] open about what you want in the short term and long term,” she said. “I made it clear which areas of tax law I wanted to focus on, and where I wanted to spend less of my time. This helped me carve out a path that I was passionate about, which greatly helped in my success.”
